They finished only just outside the European places the season before last and have consistently been one of the toughest teams to break down since their return to the top flight. Holding onto Djene Dakonam this summer was key and theres no reason why they cant target the top six again unless their Europa League adventure progresses deep into the knockout stages (particularly with a revamped Copa del Rey likely to take less toll on teams this term). Getafe are no one-season wonder.

EXPERT PREDICTION FOR Zakaria Ben Brahim vs Arsenije Zlatanovic

Celta Vigo only mathematically secured survival on the final day last season and better will be expected this time around. Theyd be playing Segunda Division football this term were it not for the heroics of Iago Aspas and hell have a few more Galicians for company now after Celta opted for a touch of local flavour by bringing Santi Mina and Denis Suarez back to the club with funds raised by the big money sale of Maxi Gomez.

Santi Cazorla and in flashes Samuel Chukwueze were the only bright lights as they flirted with relegation, fired Javier Calleja only to bring him back, and ultimately only narrowly beat the drop. Villarreal had finished in the top six for five seasons running heading into the 2018/19 campaign but they were really poor last season. Defensive frailties were a major factor in their struggles and they have tried to rectify that over the summer with what is largely a new-look back four set to take to the field this term.

Without further additions, they may struggle to match last seasons 13th place finish but Mauricio Pellegrino has instilled a clear identity and style of play and with a couple more additions, it should be effective enough to keep them up again. Theyll need to try and replicate that again this time around and they do still have strong defensive foundations with Dimitrios Siovas at the heart of the back-line. Youssef En-Nesyri is perhaps their biggest asset and theyve resisted the temptation to cash in despite Premier League interest which is a sign of the clubs growing self-confidence and belief that they do belong at this level. Butarque was a real fortress for Leganes last season with none of the top six managing to win there.

Zakaria Ben Brahim vs Arsenije Zlatanovic Sets

They managed to put four straight league wins together in the autumn but it was a bit of a struggle after that as they crept over the line despite having the divisions worst goalscoring record by some margin. Valladolid defied many peoples expectations (including ours!) in ultimately beating the drop last season. Theyve added a couple of forwards and a couple of wingers to try and rectify that over the summer with two players coming in from Real Madrid but Sergio has again mostly had to settle for loan signings.

Minas goals per minute record is impressive and both he and Denis Suarez should really benefit from greater game-time this term. However the defence still looks vulnerable and while they should steer clear of trouble, leaking goals may prevent them finishing any higher than mid-table. The Galicians have been the big romantics of this transfer window and its always good to see a team with lots of local talent who truly understand the club and what it means to the fans. The part-exchange deal which saw them receive Santi Mina and a significant chunk of cash in exchange for Maxi Gomez may prove a very smart one in time.

New signings Roberto Soldado and Darwin Machis are likely to be their main goal threats and Diego Martinez will need at least one of them to have a really good season if they are going to seriously trouble top flight defences. Granada are back after two seasons in the Segunda Division. They were promoted with the second tiers best defensive record but without a great deal of firepower so its no surprise that theyve tried to strengthen their attacking options.

There might be a newer match between Arsenije Zlatanovic vs Alex Jones.

Neither player remains and nor does the coach but theyve done smart business and should beat the drop although dont expect any top six challenges this time around. A lack of creativity has to be a concern given much of their success last term came thanks to some impressive wide showings from Jony and until January Ibai Gomez.
