Michel Pereira – Tristan Connelly Match Prediction | 14-09-2019 21:00

Unified MMA 35 went down Friday night from The River Cree Resort and Casino just outside Edmonton, Alberta (Check out the full play-by-play HERE). The card was eventful to say the least with Dominique Steele upsetting the hometown hero Teddy Ash but not earning the title due to missing weight, Clay Dixon leaving the venue moments before his title fight with Craig Shintani causing the cancellation and Jamie Siraj fending off numerous submissions from Michael Hay and finishing with a vicious body shot to capture the Bantamweight Title.

Thats not gonna happen. I know Ill be way more nervous for my next one. Theres no pressure on me. Im expected to go in there and lose, thats what everyone is expecting. People are always asking if Im nervous, and Im not really at all, Connelly said. Whatever happens in this fight, the next one where I fight at my weight class where I have a camp prepared, will they give me an opponent thats newer to the UFC, things like that. So if that happens, then whatever, my stock still goes up.

Connelly is moving up a weight class, and Pereira is a gigantic Welterweight thats a bad combination for the Canadian even before the short-notice factor. Its difficult to succeed as a grappler when faced with a significant size disadvantage. Connelly does have a chance, as Pereira is known to fatigue himself with all the acrobatics. However, the more likely result is that one of those funky moves crashes into Connellys jaw before that happens.

If he hits me, I think he might break his hand, and if he breaks his hand, hes going to be even more hesitant. Guys like that, I find they break their bones a lot. All hell have is kicks at that point. Ive never seen him attack one submission, one transition. This is a black belt in jiu-jitsu? I have not been impressed by any of the grappling Ive seen in his fights. I know blue belts that are way better than that.

Back in 2015, Hall lost an ugly split-decision to a Middleweight jiu-jitsu archetype in Rafael Natal, and I suppose that bout is really my expectation for this one. Hes going to pressure Hall, and Halls back is likely to hit the cage. At the same time, Carlos Junior knows how he wins fights. From that position, I expect the Brazilian to find a way to drag his foe to the mat, as hes really crafty with his mix of wrestling and jiu-jitsu.

There are certainly some geographical advantages for Connelly, since he is from Vancouver and will have plenty of support in the building on Saturday. With one less person in each corner on Saturday, both Connelly and Smith hope to never have to share the same card again. He will share the card with teammate Cole Smith, who faces Miles Johns, and while that may be a bit of an advantage for most fighters, Smith and Connelly corner each other for fights.

At the end of the day, its a fight; hes practicing front flips, Im practicing punching people in the face. If being able to do backflips is what it took to be a fighter, Id f****n practice backflips, but its not. Dont get me wrong, he looked awesome. Im a fan. Hes had a minute and a half in the UFC and everyones got all of this hype. I hope after I whoop his ass, he wont hold a grudge and we can take a picture, maybe give me his autograph because were all fighters and we love that s**t. And, honestly, I think hes a quitter. The same thing is going to happen with this guy and I honestly dont think hes as good as them.

The 35-year-old hits insanely hard and has some undoubtedly great technique. His jab is lightning quick, and some of the kicks he fires could probably chop down a tree. At the same time, Halls footwork often fails him, as he backs himself into the fence commonly, dropping his hands in the process. At this point, the strengths and weaknesses of Uriah Hall are rather well-known.

If Ash still has his sights set on that UFC contract he needs to avenge this defeat and start another win streak and if Steele wants to put to rest any controversy, he needs to make the championship weight and come in and collect the title with a truly decisive victory. Dominique Steele (18-12)***Middleweight Title FightTeddy Ash was on the cusp of a UFC contract before he fell at the hands of Dominique Steele this past weekend at Unified 35. 185lbs- Teddy Ash (12-4) vs. The stoppage was not without a bit of controversy as some felt it may have been an early stoppage, that coupled with the fact that Steele missed weight by 1.6lbs for what was supposed to be a Middleweight Title fight makes a rematch the most logical next step for both men.
