Norwich (@4.2) vs Chelsea (@1.85)

Our Prediction:

Chelsea will win

Norwich – Chelsea Match Prediction | 20-08-2019

Their last match, an away win at Stoke City, came after two consecutive losses. They started the season with a great performance against Everton, but lost to Hull the following week. They've won 7 points in their 6 matches (the same as Manchester United)* this season from 2 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses and currently sit 14th in the table. Opposition Analysis: Norwich City have suffered greatly from inconsistency this season. Typically, you can expect them to play their best game of the season against us on Sunday!

Elliot Bennet is the only confirmed absence from Norwich's squad[4]. On the other hand, Norwich will have Redmond and Garrido back for this match and possibly Bassong who, like Hazard, has a late fitness test. Team News: Torres who suffered a knee injury in midweek, joins Marco van Ginkel and Kalas in Chelsea's the injury list while Hazard faces a late fitness before the match to see if he has completely recovered from his ankle injury.

Norwich hit back after the break, but the Reds won 4-1. They bounced back for the start of the Premier League season, however racing into a 4-0 lead after an own goal, Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Divock Origi put them in firm control. Joel Matip scored a second-half equaliser, but Georginio Wijnaldums missed penalty proved costly. After a mixed bag of pre-season results, Liverpool lost the Community Shield on penalties at Wembley.

Who will win Liverpool vs Chelsea?

Reasons behind inconsistency: A lot of factors have played a part in Norwich's inconsistency this season, in both attack and defense. Defensively, Norwich have been leaking too many goals for their managers liking. Offensively, they haven't done much better. They've only managed to score two goals in their last five EPL matches. Much like Chelsea, Norwich have been suffering from low chance conversion rate (just over 10% for both teams)[1]. They've let in 6 goals in as many matches in the EPL, not to mention the 5 goals they shipped in 2 League Cup matches. The similarities don't end there as the Canaries have, like us, been lacking a consistent striker up front. Van Wolfswinkel played well and scored a great goal in the opening round but has failed to produce since, while Johan Elamander has been very far from his Bolton days form so far.

Tammy Abraham This is a big year for the young striker, who was entrusted to lead the line last time out. Could this be his breakthrough season at Chelsea?NGolo Kante Having featured from the bench last time out, his addition in midfield would bolster Chelseas core and he needs to be on top form to nullify Liverpools threat.Andreas Christensen One of the players criticised by Jose Mourinho in his punditry role last time out, the Danish defender must do better against Liverpools fabled front three.

The Canaries quickly bounced back from a 4-1 loss to Liverpool, with the team beating Newcastle United 3-1 in front of home fans. Finland international Teemu Pukki, who has already netted four goals in the new Premier League season, is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition defenders. Carrow Road will host Saturdays football game between Norwich City and Chelsea.

Norwich have been in superb scoring form and particularly their striker Pukki and they seem not to fear any defense.Lampard's side have not had the best of days going by their recent games but they might catch up to that here. The home side have scored 8 goals in their last 5 games at home and with their current form they can score a goal or two against the Chelsea defense which has not been quite stable.Chelsea have scored 12 goals in their last 5 away games and they might get their chance to score 2 or 3 goals in this game and finally get their win!

He broke up everything against Stoke and managed to recover the ball 8 times in the match[3]. Van Wolfswinkel may be blowing hot and cold at the moment, but he remains a huge aerial threat and will definitely need to be marked closely in the box. The battle between Tettey and our number ten will certainly be an interesting one to look out for and it could well prove crucial to deciding the outcome of the match. Key men: Norwich's Howson has arguably been their most important man this season. Finally, as eluded to above, Alex Tettey is an integral part to the Norwich machine. He leads his team in number of passes and chances created this season[2]. Mark him out of the game and deprive him from possession and the back four will have a much more comfortable day. He'll have his hands full on Sunday with either Mata or Oscar. Snodgrass has been off form so far this season, but he is still a quality player and you never know when he finds his form from last season.
