Whats the deal with the Foley bashing? Possibly a brilliant coach could have won a few more games with those chess pieces, but it is unlikely that many coaches wouldnt have had exactly the same results. He is coaching a team with no stars. Their most capped Wallabies are McCalman who is in the top three in his position, but possibly only 3, and Cummins who is mostly in play because of our lack of depth in wingers. Their captain and possibly best player, Hodgson, is probably fourth in his position. Many of the other players are 5th.

1 ticket holder and a passionate supporter of the club.[13] The Melbourne side was allowed to sign a number of players from the four Australian Super 14 franchises. Former Rugby World Cup-winning coach Rod Macqueen was the No. The Rebels' head coach for the ARC was Bill Millard, a former coach of the Australian Sevens and Sydney University.[12] Former Wallaby Fletcher Dyson was a coaching consultant.

I agree with the problems around local talent, but that just means the recruiting team need to be creative. Ordinary. I understand and accept the Rebels will get the wooden spoon in the first handful of years, but for the Force to get it in Foleys second year and many more years in Super Rugby, with the same pool of players in Oz to recruit from? Not to harp on, but the Rebels are leaving the Force behind after less time in the comp and the same local product issues.

Craig McGrath, coach of the Melbourne Harlequin club, was appointed as backs coach. Both were assistant coaches at the Rebels. The Rising's training base is also at the Harlequin club in Ashwood.[1][22]Nic Stirzaker was named as captain with Mitch Inman, Patrick Leafa and Pom Simona in the team's leadership group.[23] Scrumhalf Luke Burgess played for both the Melbourne Rebels ARC team in 2007 and the Melbourne Rising NRC team in 2014. For the 2014 NRC season, the Melbourne Rising secured RaboDirect as the main jersey sponsor.[21]Sean Hedger and Matt Cockbain were appointed as head coach and forwards coach of the Rising.

My completely unreliable sources tell me that the Force are fielding calls from France and Japan regarding Foleys availability. Although, it appears that it is just teams from those countries asking the Force board to stop trying to palm Foley off on them. I swear I even heard calls last week to bring back the Firepower dude as a major drinks sponsor.

For the Australian Rugby Championship in 2007, however, both Victoria and Western Australia were allocated teams.

Rebels v Force

I doubt it. And frankly, 2 wins out of 16 games is not a player issue. They have some good talent on paper, and lets use Godwin as an example. Does that mean he forgot how to play good rugby? Either Foley cant harness the potential of the squad, or they have stopped listening to him. Last year he was on track for higher honours, but this year he has been played out of position and been massively ineffectual. Unfair to just focus on him, but its symptomatic of the general malaise across the team. Or both.
